AfriGPT Terms and Conditions of Use
1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of AfriGPT (“the Service”), an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant provided by Africell Gambia Limited (“Africell,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), accessible via:

By dialing *277#, calling 277, sending an SMS to 277, or otherwise interacting with AfriGPT, you (“User,” “you”) confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, together with Africell’s General Terms and Conditions of Service and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
AfriGPT is an automated, artificial intelligence-based assistant that generates responses to user questions and requests using machine-learning models and available data sources, without individual human review of each response before delivery.
The Service may be accessed by USSD menu, live voice call, or SMS text exchange; the response format (spoken or written) varies by channel, but the disclaimers and terms set out in this document apply equally regardless of which channel is used.
AfriGPT is provided for general informational and convenience purposes only. It is not a substitute for Africell’s official customer care channels and does not constitute professional, legal, financial, medical, or technical advice.
3. Eligibility
The Service is intended for use by Africell subscribers and authorized users of an Africell line. Users under the age of 18 should only use the Service with the awareness and involvement of a parent or guardian.
4. Nature of AI-Generated Responses — No Guarantee of Accuracy
By using AfriGPT, you acknowledge and accept that:
a. responses are generated automatically and may, at times, be incomplete, outdated, out of context, or factually incorrect;
b. an AI-generated response does not represent an official commitment, offer, or binding position of Africell unless separately and expressly confirmed in writing by an authorized Africell representative or official Africell channel;
c. you should independently verify information relating to your account, billing, tariffs, promotions, or balances through official channels — customer care, the official website, or an Africell service center — before relying or acting on it, particularly where the decision has financial or legal consequences.
5. Disclaimer of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
a. Africell makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability, or suitability of any response or output generated by AfriGPT;
b. Africell shall not be liable for any loss, damage, cost, or expense — whether direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential — arising from or in connection with use of, reliance on, or inability to access AfriGPT, including loss of data, revenue, business opportunity, or any decision made on the basis of a response from the Service;
c. this disclaimer applies regardless of the legal basis asserted (contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise), except that nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under the laws of The Gambia, including liability for fraud or willful misconduct.
6. User Responsibilities and Acceptable Use
You agree not to use AfriGPT to:
a. submits unlawful, defamatory, abusive, or fraudulent content;
b. attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, probe, or manipulate the Service or its underlying systems;
c. submit sensitive personal data (e.g., passwords, PINs, national ID numbers, full card numbers) beyond what is strictly necessary to receive a response;
d. impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
Africell reserves the right to suspend or restrict a user’s access to the Service for breach of this section.
7. Data Privacy
Interactions with AfriGPT — including USSD session data, SMS content, and voice calls, which may be recorded and/or transcribed — may be logged and processed to operate, secure, and improve the Service, in accordance with Africell’s Privacy Policy and The Gambia’s Personal Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2025. Users are advised not to share sensitive personal, financial, or account-credential information through AfriGPT beyond what is required to resolve a query.
8. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in AfriGPT — including its underlying software, models, trademarks, and branding — belong to Africell or its licensors.
These Terms grant no right to use Africell’s intellectual property except as strictly necessary to use the Service as intended.
9. Service Availability and Modification
Africell may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue AfriGPT, in whole or in part, at any time and with or without notice, including for maintenance, network conditions, or regulatory reasons. Africell does not guarantee uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free operation of the Service.
10. Third-Party Content
Where AfriGPT provides information sourced from or referencing third parties, Africell does not endorse and is not responsible for the accuracy of such third-party information.
11. Escalation to Human Support
Users dissatisfied with a response, or with a query that is sensitive, complex, or account-specific, should contact Africell customer care via [customer care or call center/ email / social channel] for assistance from a human representative.
12. Changes to These Terms
Africell may amend these Terms from time to time. Continued use of AfriGPT after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of The Gambia. Disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or use of AfriGPT are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of The Gambia, without prejudice to any applicable regulatory process before the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA).
