In January 2018, Africell launched the 4G/LTE network services, initially covering the Greater Banjul area, with plans to extend coverage across The Gambia, offering download and upload speeds of up to 150 Mbit/s.

In September 2019, Africell introduced the 4G+ network, doubling the download speed from 150 to 300 Mbit/s.

In 2024, Africell achieved a significant milestone by reaching 2 million subscribers, reaffirming our leadership in the market. That same year, we launched our 5G network in five strategic locations: Africell Head Office, Kairaba Avenue, Banjul, Senegambia, and Brusubi. This new 5G network delivers unprecedented speeds of up to 1 Tbit/s, ensuring that Africell remains at the forefront of technological advancement in The Gambia.
